The Choice Should Be Mine

The choice should be mine, not that of some boot-faced politically-correct police officer anxious to maintain his monopoly of force - and anxious to ensure that his idea of the law should be the only one available. [More]
Exactly.

The writer is one of those guys who alternately makes me cheer and then in the next sentence makes me want to slap my forehead and scream.

I caught him in a good sentence, here.

The Wrong Domestic Targets

Virginia Gov. Timothy Kaine on Tuesday ordered an investigation into the process used by the Virginia Fusion Center to create its 2009 terrorism threat assessment after critics complained the report unfairly targeted academic institutions and minority groups. [More]
Lord knows our institutions of higher learning are crucibles of patriotism, plus we don't want to lose those busloads of Richmond Million Mom Marchers Kaine spent $7K of tax plunder on.

Don't those fusion folks have some rightwing extremists and veterans they should be harassing?

A Taxing Experience

Attendees and sellers at a weekend gun show got a visit from the tax man that some said was unusual, unexpected and unwanted. [More]
Not to mention intentionally chilling. Guess if you can't get 'em one way, you get 'em another.
He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.

A Person of Even More Interest

In "A Person of Interest," we saw the way a man who killed two deputies was being tied in with militias and veterans.

And now, as Paul Harvey would say, is "the rest of the story."

From a source:
Cartwright was a former contract security guard who had provided ARMED gate security for Hurlburt Field AFB. He had applied to join the GS civilian ARMED guard force that recently replaced the contract guards at Hurlburt.
So... this guy was licensed and certified by the state to carry a semi-automatic pistol as his JOB, did so on a USAF base (a Special Ops base, no less), AND passed a federal background check to boot.
I am told these are his licenses (not the same as CCW). My understanding is a D license is to be a security guard and a G license is to be an armed security guard. Note I provided these links for information only, and am not implying any connection between Cartwright and this security school.

Draw your own conclusions about what this all means. There's still a lot about the way this story went down that leave questions in my mind.

Blogger’s Events Get Hinky

I’ve also been denied access to a blogger’s gathering because I wasn’t up to their standards, and they didn’t like the company I keep.

How weird is that? [More]
Very weird. And completely predictable.

Here's the first-hand account from the the lady I told you about here, one I'd never communicated with until a couple days ago when she asked if any of the Gun Rights Examiners could shed any light on why she was rejected from the Pr...uh...Blog Bash. One point to clear up--when she says "he" in her narrative, she did not realize she was corresponding with a female.

There's one other thing I'd like to clear up, something I've heard from a couple sources now as a result of people making inquiries. There is a bitter accusation being made that I am anti-NRA.

That is a lie. It is equivalent to saying if you criticize the president you are anti-American. I stated my position on that here and it has not changed.

It's not surprising though. That's also where the "Threepers don't work within the system" lie comes from.

I KNEW I Forgot to Mention Something...

I had a nagging feeling after yesterday's "Faces of Death" post that I was leaving something out. It just hit me.

Using official crime scene photos for personal enjoyment is beyond reprehensible. Using them for personal gain may be criminal.

A few years back in one of my reports on "Crime Gun Solutions" (an anti-gun consulting firm run by ex-BATFU careerists), I wondered if this bizarre "welcome" photo from their website was a staged or an actual crime scene photo--and if the latter, who authorized their use of it in a for-profit venture.

SAF Sues CA

The Second Amendment Foundation, The Calguns Foundation and four California residents today filed a lawsuit challenging a California state law and regulatory scheme that arbitrarily bans handguns based on a roster of “certified” handguns approved by the State. [More]
Very good.

Provoking Further Research

Drinking water which contains the element lithium may reduce the risk of suicide, a Japanese study suggests...

In an accompanying editorial, Professor Allan Young of Vancouver's Institute for Mental Health said "this intriguing data should provoke further research. [More]
See, once we have you numbed down with Soma, everything will be alright. And we won't even have to worry about the psychopharmaceutical/shooting spree nexus, because, well, we're going to be just like Japan, silly.

See, the government isn't against all mind-altering drugs--just the ones that disrupt control.

And don't worry--once we're ready for mass implementation, we'll have all the mechanisms in place--along with an obedient media--to ridicule anyone who objects as a fluoridation paranoid.

And don't look for Colleen Kollar-Kotelly to block it because of no "environmental impact study."

Capture the Flag--and Send a Message to Your Representative

I asked for my flag to be flown on April 19 with the notation:

"In tribute to the Citizen Patriots of Lexington and Concord who resisted confiscation of their armaments on this date in 1775, and in continued defiance of all who would infringe on the Right of the People to keep and bear arms." [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner column resurrects an an old message for your representative that is still timely and needed: "Back off!"

And you get a nice flag to boot.

Also get the latest from my fellow GREs.
