The Wrong Place at the Wrong Time

A group of college students said they are lucky to be alive and they’re thanking the quick-thinking of one of their own. Police said a fellow student shot and killed one of two masked me who burst into an apartment. [More]
Big mistake, criminals. Next time, attack them when they're on campus.

Who Better to Run Against Specter?

Now that Sen. Arlen Specter has defected to the Democrat Party, many prominent Republicans are openly recruiting liberal Republicans to run against Specter.

And at the top of their list is Tom Ridge. [More]
Aka "Oathbreak Ridge."

Eulogy

His fragile health was compromised by an inability to quit smoking...

Melton’s former bodyguard, Marcus Wright, testified that Melton drank Scotch in excess, including while conducting his police-style patrols around the city. [More]
But he presumed to control you and me.

Sam Adams On the Fly

Schweitz said Adams got out of his truck and walked up to him. "He asked if everybody was all right. I could smell alcohol. His zipper was undone, and his (shorts) button was undone." [More]
Y'know, I was gonna say something the other day about maybe that not being alcohol they smelled on his breath and thought...naaah...that would be in...uh...poor taste.

Rulers to Serfs: Obey or Die

Backed by Mayor Thomas M. Menino and Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley, the Patrick administration asked lawmakers yesterday to allow prosecutors to hold suspects in gun cases without bail and to bar gun owners from buying more than one firearm within 30 days or face 2 1/2 years in prison. [More]
Anybody think these tyrant thugs are interested in letting us live in peace?

We're the Only Ones Appealing Enough

In July 2007, US District Judge Nancy Gertner found that the FBI was responsible for framing Salvati, Peter J. Limone, Louis Greco, and Henry Tameleo for the murder of Edward "Teddy" Deegan, a small-time criminal, and ordered the government to pay them a total of $101.7 million for the decades they had spent in prison.

She concluded that the FBI deliberately withheld evidence of the four men's innocence and helped hide the injustice for decades as the men aged behind bars. Tameleo and Greco died in prison.[More]
So naturally, the "government lawyer argue[d] that the FBI was not to blame."
Yesterday, Justice Department lawyer Joshua Waldman urged the US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit to overturn Gertner's ruling, arguing the FBI could not be held liable for the malicious prosecution of the four men because they were prosecuted in state court by state authorities.
Is there anything more appealing than federal "Only Ones"?

"Presumably...a More Effective Deterrent"

Well, yesterday, shipping company executive Philip Shapiro threw a wrench in that meme in his testimony before a Senate subcommittee in which he called for Congress to remove the legal and regulatory obstacles to arming civilian merchant vessels. [More]
If you truly believe that, Mr. Shapiro, spearhead commercial shipping industry efforts and recruit grassroots support. Don't your the words be dismissed and forgotten. Use your prominence, connections and resources. Lead the fight.

Are You Down for the Count?

Some people...are upset over an army of some 140,000 workers hired in part with a $700 million taxpayer-funded contract to collect GPS readings for every front door in the nation. [More]
Now come on--if you're not a rightwing domestic terrorist, what have you got to hide? It's not like a government with Patriot Act powers would ever abuse a GPS locator for your front door--or that they can't be trusted with front doors in general...

Y'know, I took a look at what the Constitution has to say about the census:
No Capitation, or other direct, Tax shall be laid, unless in Proportion to the Census or enumeration herein before directed to be taken.
and
The actual Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years, in such Manner as they shall by Law direct. The Number of Representatives shall not exceed one for every thirty Thousand, but each State shall have at Least one Representative...
Pretty straightforward, really--how many of us are there? There's certainly nothing in there about Hispanic Origin, or Food Stamps Eligibility or Plumbing or Fertility or Vehicles or...here's the questionnaire--see for yourself.

But it does make me wonder how the occupant at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, D.C., 38.898590 Latitude and -77.035971 Longitude, will answer questions 7, 8 and 9:

Either that, or I could add Loretta Sanchez to my "victim" list...

Mexican Warehouse Exposes Gun Grabber Cartel Lies

Wait a minute--they have the guns all neatly stored in a warehouse, inventoried, cataloged...if this is such a huge problem, we can't just get a printout? Mexican bureaucracy (if you buy into that being the real reason) won't allow it? So the easier solution is to adjust your and my rights accordingly? [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner column shows how there are so many lies concerning the U.S. guns/Mexican cartel connection you practically need a warehouse to store them in.

Tell a friend?

This Day in History: May 7

His Excellency the Commander in Chief, upon considering the report of the Court of inquiry, held on the conduct of Capt. Bond and Lieut. Brackinridge, both of the 4th. New Jersey Regt., respecting a charge brought against them by a certain Dennis McCarthy, thinks the accusation frivolous, and groundless; And that both those Gentlemen are to be considered as good officers, and friends to their Country.
