Love Story

While I couldn't agree more that guns are simply tools, pretty much like any others, I don't know why that would make them unlovable. Most men love their tools, all different kinds, and men have always loved their guns. I'm certainly not ashamed to join those men. [More]
I confess I don't understand the passion and never have.  Long time readers know that.  I like 'em ok, and enjoy shooting to a degree, but I'll never be a true enthusiast--I've always considered practice more of a responsibility than a recreational activity.  I understand a lot of you are aficionados, but for me it's always been about the freedom, the principles, the utility and the choice.

As far as material possessions go, if my house were on fire, my first inclination would be to save the family pictures and videos.

Email Bleg

Is anyone getting an email purporting to be from From: "Caprii" with the subject " hopefully i havent sent you this yet‏"?

I just had one show up in my "Junk" file and need to figure out if it's just someone spoofing based on edresses not suppressed on somebody's "To" list (another reason why people need to use "BCC") or if someone has actually managed to hijack my address book.  Please advise.

Ask Canada -- gun registration won't make D.C. safer [More]
Right--they expect the D.C. Council to look at facts.

Lions (No Tigers) and Bears, Oh My!

"(The cub) stood up on its hind legs and put its paws up and I got to play patty-cake with it," he said. [More]

Personally, I think this story smells like bear scat, but assuming it happened as told, I could not have blamed the mountain lion or the sow if this walking link in the food chain had succeeded in giving up his place in it to either one.

We're the Only Ones Platformed Enough

"Mr. Carillo emphatically indicated a gun was involved... that is very important. It sets the platform for the mindset of the responding officers." [More]
So if I want to have the "Only Ones" assassinate someone for me, that's all I've got to tell them?

What would be even sweeter is if I could remain anonymous and get them to pay me a bounty!

What if Trayvon Martin had killed George Zimmerman?

In all the indictments I’ve seen against Trayvon Martin, none of them add up to any more than he wasn’t perfect (guilty on all charges here) and that he fit a stereotype profile. More disturbing: Some of those comments do nothing but widen the racial divide, instead of helping to bridge it. [More]

If At First You Don't Succeed...

This article, however, argues that undercover money laundering operations are one of the most effective and critical weapons to identify and prosecute those involved in the command and control of global narco-terrorist organizations. Much of the analysis in this article is based on the author’s 27-year career as a federal agent, including five years of long-term undercover work operating as a money launderer for drug cartels. [More]
So you've been doing it for 27 years, the problem is worse than ever, and your solution is to keep doing it?  Didn't I read a definition somewhere...?

We're the Only Ones Exhaustive Enough

Police officers receive exhaustive training in the use of their firearms...[More]
What, like Heather Fong?

How come the News Tribune editorial state-worshiper making this assertion doesn't summarize the "exhaustive" requirements for us, including how many shots must be fired every year to re-qualify, what the targets are and how far away they must be, what's the minimum score and how many retries do they get if they don't make it? Or are we supposed to just take their word for it because, after all, they're "Authorized Journalists"?

You want to bring up child shooting tragedy anecdotes?

You really want to go there?

You're sure?

Because I can keep at this.

Really.
