Sloppy mainstream reporting on basic gun facts points to pervasive failure

This is important and hardly splitting hairs. For many in the television audience, the talking heads do so with apparent authority, so if the professionals don’t know enough to provide accurate reporting, how can we reasonably expect their viewers to know the difference? And if the reporters are this clueless about such basic and easily verifiable information, how can we expect they will be versed enough to report on any aspect of the gun issue, including about rights and laws, and not expect the same sloppy results? [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner column notes that when their malpractice is not due to a deliberate agenda,  too many "Authorized Journalists" are far too often simply not qualified to competently report on anything having to do with guns.

In the Running

That takes money.

We're the Only Ones Up in the Air Enough

Kim...was one of two officers who had to turn in their guns and go on paid leave Sunday after allegedly shooting their guns into the air outside the popular upper State Street bar shortly before 2:30 a.m. They were off duty at the time of the incident. [More]
Which explains why you or I can't be trusted to carry when we take our families to restaurants that serve adult beverages. I mean, if this can happen with trained professionals...

Which also explains why they get paid leave and we'd get something altogether different...

Oops

Get busy and you get forgetful. At least I do sometimes.

In yesterday's GRE, I neglected to link to Kurt's related piece from a few days earlier.  And I'd even "liked" it on Facebook and Tweeted it a few days earlier.

I hope this doesn't jeopardize future invites to his luxury yacht...

When In Doubt, Ban

Did Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law make the tragedy more likely? [More]
We obviously don't have a clue, so our solution is to demand repeal.

No Effect--Provided You Obey

The attorney general said it will have no effect on law-abiding citizens who carry guns, such as those licensed to carry a concealed handgun. [More]
How about those of us who don't believe you have the moral or Constitutional authority to issue licenses for a right?  And as for being a felon with guns, proudly here, just an uncaught one.

Still, the despicable little swine has come a long way from being a Brady darling.  That alone gives us something to laugh at.

Seems to Me We've Tried That Already...

U.S. needs 'robust research' on gun violence [More]
You know, taxpayer-funded anti-gun propaganda to make guns "dirty, deadly and banned."

How about "U.S. needs 'robust respect' for freedom"...?

We're the Only Ones "A Star is Born" Enough

Putting the "You" in BATFU

They claim they want to make copies of the “book”. This is defacto registration, against the law, and BATFE knows it. [More]
This merits taking a closer look at.

We're the Only Ones Floored Enough

A 25-year-old Japanese tourist — sleeping on a Brooklyn pal’s couch — was wounded early today when a cop on a drug raid accidentally fired his gun through the floor above her...Authorities said the 36-year-old cop whose gun discharged had never fired his weapon before. [More]
Never?

And I think I missed his name...?

We're the Only Ones Imperious Enough

Be part of a imperious security team protecting airports and skies as you proudly establish your future. [More]
That would be "an imperious," with an "n."

We Demand that You Give Us...

"No cuts, no fees, education should be free." [More]
Dang--I wish they'd had that back when I was working in factories in the summers and the campus warehouse during the school year...

We're the Only Ones Anonymous Enough

The police department has so far refused to release the name of the officer who killed the elderly man... [More]
Well why should they? It's not like he's somebody famous, like George Zimmerman. Besides, the "public safety commissioner" has already said the old man got what's coming to him.

This Day in History: April 4

Washington wrote DeKalb from Headquarters, Morristown April 4, 1780: "I have in consequence of the opinion of the last Council of War, left it with Congress finally to determine upon the march of the Maryland divisions to the southland. That no time may be lost in the transportation of the troops, should Congress agree in sentiment with the Council of War I desire you to proceed immediately to Philadelphia, and, if you find upon your arrival there, that they are to move concert with the Board of War, and the commissary and quarter-master-general make the necessary arrangements for their provision and accommodation.
