Anti-gun allegations against Defense honcho believable but unsubstantiated

“Ashton Carter has not said anything about wanting private weapons in the US destroyed or supporting a ban on gun ownership," the analysis concludes. While readers are free to disagree with that assessment, fairness would dictate dissenters should be able to produce a sourced citation.

Just one will do. [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner report cautions that those on the side of truth have a special duty to test and verify what we represent as such.

They Can't Do It Alone

From SAF, via email:
We are doing most of the heavy lifting with more than 20 active court cases. It is imperative we collect as many resources as possible to defend the Second Amendment from attacks by anti-gun laws in every city and state from coast to coast. WE NEED YOUR MOST GENEROUS HELP NOW!

Here's how you can.

We're the Only Ones Raging Against the Machine Enough

Police say 40-year-old Nathaniel David Juratovac fired shots at a passing car while driving down U.S. Highway 1 South between Watson Road and Southwood Road. [More]
Nice. And the victim had his wife and 17-month-old daughter in his car.

And then there's this:
One of the individuals in Juratovac's car is a member of the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office and was a witness to the incident.
 Just a witness?  Seriously?

More than Just Soup

OK, so it apparently extends to other things as well, but that doesn't give Serbu the right to appropriate his image without authorization, and that "joke" about shooting him is an inexcusably stupid thing to say to the media. [Read]

I also saw a boatload of people fell for the Guns.com piece on the UN ATT disarming the elderly.  I actually spent several minutes trying to validate various pieces of information before I realized we were all being punked.

I figure I don't have much room to criticize anyone when it comes to stupid April Fools Day posts...

EXCLUSIVE: A Right Delayed

Fortunately, no one would have cause to suspect the Obama administration of such shenanigans, would they? Still, with demand for checks being created in record numbers thanks to the aforementioned surge, sheer volume seizing up servers appears to be a legitimate factor for concern. [More]

When Waiting Isn't Good Enough

Illegal gun carrying should be treated the same way. The risky behavior itself should be punished; waiting until something terrible happens isn't good enough. [More]
Actually, I started doing it in Southern California under the advice of an investigating cop following a credible threat where he and his partner admitted to me they could do nothing until it was acted on, and who knew, my being an unconnected "nobody," that I couldn't get a permit if my life depended on it.

I'm sure these hive insects gungrabber idiotorial writers, who don't come right out and say it, but really want to make all carry "illegal," would rather I'd been defenseless. And their brothers in infringement, the "enforce existing gun laws" crowd who think such civil disobedience (that is, obedience to a higher Law) "makes us all look bad" would say I should have waited for them to get their political act together and get popular consensus to change the law.  But then, I'd have never had my "illegal" DGU, where I protected myself, my wife and my then-toddler son from multiple aggressors, peaceably, it turned out, since I did not need to fire a shot once presentation was made and our new found acquaintances decided they'd rather not get to know me any better.

I didn't wait for something terrible to happen -- I prevented it. And I resented like hell that the government that fraudulently bills its entire raison d'ĂȘtre on securing life, liberty and property, would --and could-- force such a terrible choice on me.

Under the circumstances, I couldn't very well file a police report either, so the fine young gentlemen were free to move on that night to either easier pickings or a revival meeting, whichever you think more likely.

Time for Another Telly

We talked about American Trigger Sports Network winning two Telly Awards last year.

It's time to vote again for 2013.  This time, their "Stop the Threat: Home Alone" video is in the running.

Please click here and give it a "thumbs up" if you believe it is helpful to encourage programming like this. And please share this with your friends and ask them to follow suit.

See the complete episode here. I understand we can vote daily through April.

We're the Only Ones Swindling Enough

Not that I have any use for most politicians of either stripe, but the thing I noticed is the Republican is the one who complained and the Democrat didn't say anything until confronted, and then took pains to distance himself. [Read]

Now THERE'S an Original Argument!

You can feel at least temporarily reassured when a long-barreled assault weapon compensates for just another average manhood; it's an irresistable testosterone high to the beleaguered white male. [More]
Mark Karlin, who has essentially failed at every "gun control" effort he's tried over the years, tells us quite a bit about his personal fantasies in this projection piece.

I say encourage him.  Let the drones who would follow waste their energy in the ineffectual direction this sterile bee queen will take them. Think of him as "our man in the gun ban camp," wasting resources that might otherwise be used more effectively against us.

And the Hits Just Keep On Coming

A group of congressional Democrats has signed on to new legislation that would mandate liability insurance for all gun owners in the United States — and fine those who refuse to purchase it as much as $10,000. [More]
I'm not even going to try to fight anything like this -- politically.

This Day in History: April 2

On April 2, 1781, a force of Chickamauga Cherokee led by Dragging Canoe attacked the fort at the bluffs. The Indians succeeded in luring most of the men out of the fort, then cutting them off from the entrance. But the settlers managed to escape back to the fort while the Cherokee captured their horses. They also had help from the fort's dogs, turned loose by the women. [More]
