A Question of Response

There is this school of thought. [More]

There's another that says make popcorn.

Have you ever been in a riot, David? I have - sort of in 1968. You remember '68 don't you, David, when cities from the Atlantic to the Pacific were going up like popcorn. We never had a riot like Chicago or Watts here in San Antonio - at least nothing that made the papers. We had a Mayor back then who could have given John Daily lessons on ruling a city with an iron hand. He came on local TV to tell us the city was buying 250 M-16 automatic rifles for SAPD and that orders were not to shoot over rioters' heads. Nothing - I say again NOTHING about San Antonio got into the news without his personal OK. So you didn't get a chance to hear about our near riot during Fiesta.

Now if any group was going to riot it wouldn't have been blacks (15% of the population) or whites (20%). It would have been (was, truth told) browns (65%). The one time I went downtown to walk around during I was walking along a cross street when I looked up and saw a sea of brown coming my way - and they had murder in their eyes. I looked back the other way and there was this wall of blue - fully equipped with riot shields, helmets, tactical batons and at least a couple of dozen M-16s. Fortunately, there was an alley across the street from me. I'm not ashamed to say I ran like my life depended on it. As I was running, I heard the distinctive sound of 5.56 rounds going off in a rippling volley. No, I did not turn around; I just kept on running. Eventually, I caught a bus and made it home.

I live on the side of town, just a little ways from what once would have been called "N****r Town". If things get hinkey, it's liable to be near where I live. DAMN! I hope sense can establish itself before that happens. Funny thing, David. When Trump won, I thought we had forestalled the rebellion that I believed would inevitably follow Hildabeast's election. Now it looks like we may have hastened it. What gives?

Yes I have. In numerous times and places.

And "what gives" is evil is afoot.
