I spent a good bit of time in the Philippines (Clarke AB and Angeles City) back in the early 80s and never saw anything called a "tuk tuk". I did see a boatload of highly decorated open vehicles a bit bigger than a golf cart that everyone called a "jeep-ney" (presumably the originals were leftover jeeps left there when U.S. forces stood down after WWII). They were the most common means of public transportation.
I doubt this nit-wit has ever been to the P.I. If he had, I very much doubt he'd find it so all fired nice. BUT! So far as I can tell, his belief - no matter how wacky it seems to us - neither picks anyone's pocket not breaks their leg. On that basis he's welcome to call himself whatever he wants.
But it never stops there, does it? Sooner or later, as with transexuals, lawsuits are filed and people who would otherwise tolerate are tarred as haters and sued for not embracing.
